I've observed that Android 5 Lollipop hasn't reached tablets such as the Galaxy Tab 4. Since the tablet was launched under a year ago (April 2014), it seems unlikely to be outdated (though I hope so). Do anyone have any insights on when Samsung might release an update, or has this not been announced yet?

We've been through four months of Lollipop, and it's now available on nearly all Samsung devices except the budget models.

It's sure you'll be waiting a while, especially because it's a larger leap than 4.1.2 to 4.4.2. Look at XDA.
