And the cloning attempt failed.
I attempted to duplicate my operating system and drive (120gb SSD) to a new 480gb SSD, and it worked. This outcome undermined the purpose for which I changed it in the first place. Macrium Reflect is someone you can ask for help with—any suggestions? Edit: I followed another person's advice and after rebooting, I encountered an issue deleting the health primary partition. Do you know how to resolve this?
I had to upgrade to a larger SSD since the existing one with my OS completely filled up, causing issues with Windows updates. I purchased a 480GB SSD and attempted to clone the drive to the new one. It seemed successful, but the OS isn’t utilizing the entire SSD. Instead, it appears as two drives—one with the cloned OS and another with just empty space. This defeats the purpose of replacing it, since Windows still reports low storage and prevents updates.
You can expand the C drive from your current location, though you'll need additional programs for the process. Start by installing GParted Live on a USB stick, boot from that drive, then you can remove the D partition you created, relocate the recovery partition to the end of the disk, and extend the C partition to complete the setup. Other tools exist, but I'm confident they aren't free alternatives like GParted.
Click right-click to remove the empty area, then right-click the main partition and select extend volume. Proceed through the wizard and you're done! EDIT: This was accomplished via the built-in Windows "Disk Management" utility shown in the images.
Usually it fails, and you'll lose time recreating the drives. It's pointless and no one should try it. Also, when a computer is so slow it can't even copy vital files to USB or the cloud, a fresh installation is necessary.
