I found this server at a thrift store for just eight dollars. It has a Celestix motherboard from around 2003. Originally it was used as a VPN firewall. I’m not sure what to do, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Checked VHDCI and HD68, both unfamiliar terms. Took about ten minutes to research them. Could be a mistake.

Those headers likely served to extend Ethernet connectivity. One possible design might have included additional ports for networking.

It seems to be a board-to-board connector. Not sure what it's for, but it resembles the one shown here: https://www.pinheaderconnector.com/sale-...rrent.html. EDIT: @BondiBlue That fits because the chip next to the three slots is a gigabit Ethernet controller.
