Hello everyone, I just upgraded my system to a 9800x3d and checked if this is normal heat performance. Based on what I found, it seems like a typical result. From what I’ve gathered so far, it’s probably due to background decompression, pushing the CPU to its maximum boost. At that moment, it draws about 120 watts. I ran Cinebench R24 and got a score of 1316, which is quite high. I also noticed similar temperatures when playing Cyberpunk, though it might be during game loading. So, this behavior appears expected for my rig—no major changes needed unless things get hotter.

The 9800X3D is heating up noticeably during intensive tasks. A temperature of 85°C is normal while downloading a game, especially when the installer runs simultaneously. A full stress test such as Cinebench will also push the CPU to its maximum temperature, which aligns with expectations. There doesn’t seem to be anything fundamentally wrong here. I own a 9800X3D and typically experience around 80-85°C during CPU-heavy games like Hell Let Loose.

These readings are from Cinebench or while playing games. If you're reaching 90 during gaming, consider switching the cooler; don't worry until you hit 95. If you're consistently at 90 in Cinebench, it's likely okay.

This was during a Cinebench test, with three passes completed in ten minutes.

It should be okay then. Cinebench is designed to stress your CPU.

Coming from a 9600 resolution means warmer temperatures are typical, I wasn’t sure about the 9800x3d setting. Knowing it’s normal is nice.

Gotcha! Yeah, I see nothing wrong here at all. Enjoy the 9800X3D, beastly CPU!

It mainly comes down to thermal throttling versus temperatures. It relies on CPU architecture and power configurations.
