I purchased AM4 non-OEM Ryzen CPUs and conducted some research on their prices on eBay. I shared these insights with the community if anyone was interested. Zen-based chips remain significantly cheaper than their original MSRP, though the differences vary. Entry-level Ryzen models saw the smallest drops, with the Ryzen 3 1300X dropping just 26% to $96. The Ryzen 5 1400 fell 69% from $169 to $100.
Looking at mainstream and high-performance options, prices have risen overall. The Ryzen 7 1800X saw its MSRP drop from $499 to $195—a 61% reduction. The Ryzen 5 1400 also decreased by 69%.
The first-gen APUs also increased in cost, especially the Ryzen 3 2200G, which rose 72% from $99 to $170. The 2400G saw a modest 4% rise to $175.
For GPUs, the shortage affected performance chips the most. The Ryzen 7 2200G fell 72%, while the 2600 dropped only 30%. The 3200G hit the hardest at a 99 MSRP to 269 today. If you own one, now is a good time to sell.
Zen+ and second-gen Ryzen CPUs showed mixed trends. Mainstream chips fell about 30%, but performance models like the Ryzen 7 series improved notably—down from $299 to $160 (46% drop). The Ryzen 5 2600 reached as low as $120, though rarely.
Second-gen APUs were hit hardest by the GPU shortage, with prices more than doubling. The 3200G was the worst, jumping from $99 to $269.

The Enthusiast line also dropped, but less than the performance segment.
Looking ahead, the current generation (Zen 3/4) shows smaller drops compared to past models. The Ryzen 7 5800X is the best deal right now at $341 for $239. The APUs like the Ryzen 7 5700G are also dropping, with the 5700G at $300 now.
These trends highlight how supply issues and demand shape prices across the board.

My idea is that uninformed buyers are making suboptimal decisions. They rely on outdated reviews and don’t grasp that pricing affects value. The 3300X and 3600 consistently received positive feedback, while the 3700X got mixed reviews. Also, the 3200G and 3400G feature higher Vega graphics numbers, which could mislead buyers into believing their on-board performance is better than it actually is.
I organized the offers by focusing on items exclusive to the United States, purchasing solely, in used condition, with boxes still open, refurbished, and new—excluding any listings with faulty components—and arranged them from cheapest to most expensive.
