Analysis of anti-aliasing and resolution scaling techniques vs. their impact on image quality
SSAA was the original approach, the classic AA technique. I relied on it frequently with my GeForce SDR card. Only after MSAA was introduced did things change. With post-processing gaining traction, FXAA became widely adopted for various reasons. PPAA remains popular because MSAA struggles with aliasing in effects, while SSAA handles it all by default—though at a much higher processing cost. It stays the go-to traditional method since it’s simple to grasp and works well.
