An additional 5700X3D temperature thread
Hello, I just finished assembling my liquid-cooled setup and have a bit of worry about CPU temps, though not as much as before I read about X3D CPUs. For those using a 5700X3D or similar, how are your cooling and temperature setups looking? Is this within the typical range? Please see the details below. My system includes an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D, an ASUS RTX 4080 TUF Gaming GPU, Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB RAM, a 32GB MOTHERBOARD unit, an ASUS ROG Strix X570-I gaming CPU, and the EK-Quantum Velocity D-RGB GPU with EK Quantum Surface X360M radiators. I have Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM fans, two Noctua NF-A14 PWM fans, and a reservoir EK-Quantum Kinetic FLT120 D5/DDC body RGB pump. The exhaust fans are also included: two Noctua NF-A14 PWM fans. The coolant is Alphacool Ultra Pure Data, and the ambient temperature was recorded at 26°C. Temperatures are shown in OCCT from the CPU CCD1 (TDD). Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste (3-5 years old), BIOS idle at 38.9°C, 3DMark profile max 66.6°C, OCCT 2min max 84.5°C, stock idle 38.5°C, 3DMark CPU max 66°C, OCCT 2min CPU max 83.5°C with D.O.C.P. on, RAM freq 3466/3600MHz, FCLK 1600/1800MHz, all cores -30mV offset idle 36.5°C, 3DMark CPU max 58°C).
Why are you so concerned? 84.5c is pretty decent during a full stress test like OCCT.. Its an unrealistic amount of load. How often would you run a 100% load like this? Does it matter if the CPU is at 84c over 82c or 79c? You still get full performance out of it without risking any damage. Temps look good. Stop worrying and start playing video games.
Absolutely, I share your concerns. The readings look normal, but I'm used to cooler temps. My 3900X already handles more power than this model and stays much cooler thanks to its 240 AIO. Seeing these high temps caught my attention right away. It makes sense to stay alert for odd behavior during setup, especially with a custom liquid cooling system. I expect better temperatures because of the strong cooling capacity. If someone else is running hot at 85°C but you're seeing 75°C with poor cooling, it would definitely raise your alarm.
For reference, OCCT isn't an excessive workload; it's simply not designed for gaming purposes.
Alright, I understand. Even if it were possible, the load situation isn't crucial. I'm focusing on how my temperatures compare to what others observe to check if my cooling system is working properly. Running OCCT helps because it simplifies assessing the outcomes. A less effective cooling setup will reveal a larger difference at higher temperatures.
