Hi everyone, I was planning to use AMD StoreMI to boost my HDD speed. Around the halfway point of the setup, I encountered a BSOD with a 'page fault error'. After rebooting, the Windows screen appeared but nothing worked. I also tried safe mode, which functioned correctly. It seems the installation didn’t finish properly, making it impossible to uninstall via Control Panel. Now, rebooting either leaves me with a blank screen or causes the Windows interface to freeze. I’m not sure if I need to reset the Windows install. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
You're starting to notice the issue. The windows are loading but then become blank. Let's troubleshoot together.
from amd site... known issue btw, sure great they advertise this "feature" without any warnings whatsoever and make people's pcs unbootable en mass (well if many ppl would install this pos to begin with I guess lol) https://community.amd.com/t5/drivers-sof...d-p/368824 PS: also btw, I think the issue is as follows, amd cpus are incompatible with amd storage drivers on windows and as such if you install an amd storage driver this is what (can) happen...
It's frustrating realizing I made this error too. After working around AMD's software to get my second display functional again, things seem to be back on track. For those facing the same problem, the fix involved starting in safe mode and using the cleanup tool from the StoreMI installation folder. That opened a command prompt which removed all conflicting drivers, allowing Windows to boot properly. Additionally, I had to reset my AMD Radeon settings to their default state so the second monitor would display correctly.
It worked great to bring your system back online. To get the most out of your new SSD, try removing as many files from your old hard drive as possible and clone them over to the SSD without merging volumes or combining anything. (If your Windows 10 setup was on the hard drive and you used the SSD for speed, this should help.)
Thanks, yes... I’ve already done that. Unfortunately, the SSD is only 240GB, which means storage is limited. I avoid using more than 50-75% because it’s also my Windows boot drive, and filling it up would significantly slow things down. The only apps or games installed are those I use regularly =)
