AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 experiences sudden freezing with no response to clicking or using the keyboard.
Warning about the AMD Ryzen Ai 9 HX 370 chip! My A16+ laptop running an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 experiences freezing issues. I own three of these machines and consistently encounter the same problems. The system suddenly halts during light tasks, making it impossible to press buttons or move the mouse. The computer doesn’t display a blue screen; instead, it stops completely and requires forcing the power button to restart it. Is there any helpful information available? Could this be a defective CPU? I’ve checked other forums and it appears this issue is common across the same chipset. I can’t share links, so I’m only sharing the title. All affected units have been sent for repair three times, but they still freeze after about 15 minutes before stopping. This is extremely frustrating. These devices are now unusable for our company, and we’re hoping there’s a solution or a way to inform others that this problem isn’t limited to just us. Ex: MSI Forum – MSI Stealth A16 AI+ Problems / Freezes; Ex: Framework 13 (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370) Random Freeze Then Shutdown – Only change was AX210 Wi-Fi card; Ex: Ubuntu 24.04 with AI 9 HX 370 – possible causes? Please advise.
We require logs to determine if any issues are logged regarding the freezes. Since these are company laptops, sharing files may violate company rules. Freezes could stem from many causes; the CPU is usually a common suspect. If you have logs, open Event Viewer → Windows Logs → System and export recent events (especially those from the past few days). Highlight any relevant entries, right-click and save. Please send the .evtx file.
There aren't any obvious problems I'd consider serious. The unexpected shutdown seems to be a BSOD or an unnoticed crash, like when you restart on login. If the issue was with the CPU, I'd expect WHEA error messages to appear. During freezing, it might not handle data properly.
I'm working on this task simultaneously with MSI support. I'll keep you updated if they reach a conclusion on their end.
