Hey, with the new CPUs arriving I decided to switch from Intel to AMD. I’m not very experienced building PCs, but I’ve worked with friends before and built one once. I’m still getting used to AMD CPUs. During the transition I searched for a compatible motherboard and discovered that an X570 board would work well with an AMD Ryzen 9 5950. But I didn’t dig deep into details beyond what I thought was necessary. It turned out I had to change my BIOS to match the new board. Unfortunately, I ordered an ASUS Tuff Gaming X570 plus Wi-Fi motherboard, which doesn’t support BIOS updates without a CPU installed. Now I’m wondering what to do next. I’ve checked around, but the only choice seems to be buying an older Ryzen 5 CPU to update the BIOS. I’d rather not spend more money and want to explore all my options before making a final decision. I’m currently contacting suppliers to see if any solutions exist without an older CPU. Also, I’m curious—are there any ways to update the BIOS without an older processor? Or is the most affordable option the Ryzen 5 I’ve found for around £150? My other choice would have been hiring a technician, but since I live in the UK, that’s not an option. I know I sound a bit confused, but I’m just frustrated because I thought this upgrade would be simple, but it’s proving to be more complicated than I expected. I just want a functional PC for 3D work and editing, but right now I’m stuck with the 5950 CPU as a decorative piece. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
I installed the CPU, connected everything, and it turned on but never moved past the Dram boot light which was orange on the motherboard. I then bought a new RAM, but it didn’t work and kept showing the same issue. I contacted the seller for assistance, but they haven’t opened any lines until Monday. Considering lockdown restrictions in my area, it’s hard to know if they’ll be able to help. My next step is checking online for possible solutions.

I thought I reached out to the store for assistance, but they’re not reachable and won’t respond until Monday. I’ll have to wait then to hear back. For the CPU, I considered ordering one from Amazon for a BIOS update and replacement, but I’m unsure about the return policy and worried it might cost me a lot if I end up with a bad deal.
Find the right model and choose one with preflash support or flashable options without a CPU.
