AMD RAM in an Intel MOBO
AMD RAM in an Intel MOBO
Friends,
I have a 1x4GB AMD RAM module set up in an Intel MOBO. It functions properly. The RAM's SPD indicates it's overclocked (CPU-Z). Overclocking requires higher overvoltage. If I could raise the voltage by about 1.8V, perhaps it would work with a 2x4GB AMD RAM. However, adjusting that in BIOS isn't possible. I'm looking for software solutions. My system has Windows 10 installed.

1.8V? Is this for DDR2? The RAM isn't specific to the motherboard unless it's DDR2/DDR3/DDR4. The amount of RAM that can be added depends on the motherboard model. Having the model numbers would be really useful.
It is DDR2 and I have two slots. Old parts prevent me from upgrading to 8GB, which is best for running Windows 10, especially with VM OS. I'm a power user but can't afford textbooks or books. I own and upgrade PCs since 2008; fixing them ensures you never run short. I have a WinXP netbook from 2008 that works fine, and a 2016 Win10 notebook with VM—four Windows machines open well. I need more RAM. Please help me.
Sochox is a Chinese name for Kingston RAM priced at $15/8GB. I currently use a DDR2 4GB 667 MHz 1.8V PC-2 5300U with one stick, which is sufficient. Two sticks won’t fit into the BIOS. I believe the actual voltage drops below 1.8V. I’m not experienced in overclocking and aim for long-term stability lasting a decade. A 2x2GB Buffalo Select kept me running nonstop for most of that time. Now I require additional RAM. Using any old MOBO with a quad-core CPU, SSD, and more power will give you a workstation, but I still need more RAM.
The motherboard model is MCP73VE equipped with an nVidia chipset. Please note this earlier. Vision loss.

The motherboard model is MCP73VE with an nVidia chipset. Apologies for not mentioning this earlier. Vision issues.
This board also has a 4GB limit.
Memory: Can handle up to 4GB MAX, with 2GB per DIMM.

Board ma model MCP73VE z chipset nVidia. Przepraszam, nie powiedziałem to wcześniej. Vision traci się.
Ten komponent ma ograniczenie do 4GB, a maksymalnie 2GB na każdy DIMM.

Indeed, what was accurate in 2008 is changing now. I've tested combinations like 4GB + 2GB and 4GB + 4GB. Stability declines more and more, but it still boots. When Win10 crashes because of memory issues, it shows a QR code. Not ideal. As you can observe, the problem lies in stability rather than restrictions.
