I'm sorry about the tagging mix-up. After using this cooler upside down for months, I didn't realize it was mounted incorrectly until now. On OCCT, the CPU isn't throttling at 4.7 GHz and is drawing more power. Is this typical for me now? Spoiler: Yes.
Haha, stress tests like OCCT are tough and don’t usually reflect real-world conditions. Mostly everything seems fine to me. I’d suggest turning on PBO and using a -20 to -30 curve optimizer in the BIOS. You can boost clock speeds while reducing temperatures. I tried this with my 7700x—5.5Ghz across all cores while cutting 15°C. Still, everything looks good now.
You can monitor your CPU limits during undervolt settings by using system tools or monitoring software. Since you're using different silicon chips, check each one individually to ensure stability. Running tests randomly until a blue screen appears isn't reliable—consistent monitoring is key to avoid damage.
That's a solid inquiry. Basically you turn on PBO and lower the Curve Optimizer setting to -30. This acts as an undervolt while the PBO serves as the overclock. Not every AM5 chip supports -30 due to variations in the silicon. If you see a blue screen or crash, switch to -25 instead of 30 and retry. Decrease by 5 steps until it works. A crash from the Curve Optimizer isn't harmful. My 7700x held up at -25 but my 9800X3D ran smoothly at -30. I've assembled more than 100 AM5 systems and performed numerous PBO and Curve Optimizer adjustments. Most CPUs can handle -30, and all can manage -20. PBO and Curve Optimizer are safe to use—we're not increasing voltage, just reducing it to prevent overheating.
