AMD Phenom II x6 1400T
Hi! So, a friend made me a gaming PC and gave it to me. It has a CPU with 4 cores unlocked to 6 cores. I'm running it at 3.2 GHz, but I've heard people suggest going up to 3.5 GHz. I really think this CPU could do even better. Do you know anything about this CPU? And can I possibly reach 3.5 GHz? Thanks!
I recently retired a Phenom II x 2 that was unlocked for 4 cores and overclocked to 3.7GHz for the past seven years. The six cores are built on a newer design, so you might achieve even better performance, but since it's an unlocked chip, you might not see much improvement. You'll only find out if you try.
I checked online and discovered someone achieved around 3.6 ghz, nearly matching 3.7 ghz. I'm curious to hear others' opinions before investing more time.

Simon12 shared his experience about a Phenom II x 2 that was unlocked for 4 cores and overclocked to 3.7GHz over the past seven years. He noted the six-core version uses a newer design, which could offer more performance, but since it's an unlocked chip, results might be limited. He advised trying it out.
