Mantle functions as an API similar to DirectX. When a game supports it, it's recommended to use it. Being simpler than DirectX, it allows the GPU more flexibility while the CPU remains less powerful.

In my view, AMD CPUs aren't as strong for gaming compared to Intel. If you're considering switching to an AMD CPU, you'd also need a different motherboard. Switching to an i5 or i7 should work fine without changing your motherboard. Just pick one in your budget if you don't mind staying the same.
