If I needed a top performance gaming rig right now—just focused on gaming—I’d likely choose an i5 10600K paired with an NVIDIA GPU. For a build around Christmas or later, I’d wait for independent reviews of new AMD CPUs and GPUs and consider availability. Regarding the driver situation with AMD GPUs, I’m still unsure if a recent model would be better. I was fortunate my GPU is a Polaris and it wasn’t too hard to set up drivers for it.
