Back in July I was eager to upgrade my 6600k to a 10600K. I asked about availability on a general level. Eventually, AMD fans really jumped in, pushing me toward switching platforms. Some gave solid suggestions, while others just got excited. Honestly, I did end up getting a 10600K, and the motherboard came later in August. I really wish I had paid more attention to you! My 10600K still handles all cores at 4.9Ghz, which is solid. But AMD seems ready to challenge Intel and NVIDIA with their new Zen chips. I was also keen on getting an nVidia 3080. Thank the heavens I didn’t preorder one! It looks like the AMD 6000 series is set to shake up the video gaming scene. The AMD 6800 seems stronger than the 3070, and what caught my eye is that all three cards now have 16 gigabytes of GDDR memory. The only drawback I see is that by moving to AMD, they’re confident they’ll catch up with Intel and NVIDIA for the next few years. They seem prepared to benefit from it.
Ok here is the simple truth intel has an amazing offer if they price it right and drop the i9 their 8 core option will be just as fast as a 5800x they will also have faster single threaded preformance Nvidia 3080 is better then the rx 6800XT by a bit but then when dlss comes into play AMD is dead. their is a reason AMD refused to show Nvidia cards with dlss on. Intel and Nvidia are just bad at discion making but have great products
It's still unclear what the new chip benchmarks are. I wouldn't claim they're significantly better just because the results seem selective. They're competitive, but your Intel CPU probably stays within a few percentage points while being cheaper. The big improvements you've noticed with GPUs aren't matching up with AMD's claims. Remember, AMD is more expensive, so any real gains might be limited. Independent testing is needed to confirm performance across different games. Also, keep in mind the known issues with AMD drivers.
Needs further evaluation after analysis. If AMD Zen 3 boosts IPC by 19%, it could depend on Intel Rocket Lake's performance. There might be a fresh winner for single-threaded speed.
I've been eager to purchase a CPU for a high-performance gaming setup. The 10600k was the top choice but I stayed flexible, hoping AMD's upcoming release would improve things. Even so, the 10600k is still quite capable. If you haven't done it yet, consider spending time optimizing your memory timings and adjusting your CPU settings.
