AMD GVR
AMD GVR
Hey everyone, I was curious about using AMD's new game recorder. It seems similar to Shadowplay on Nvidia. I personally find it performs very well—recording 1080p at 60fps without any noticeable slowdown and delivering excellent quality. Unfortunately, I can't share the results yet since YouTube doesn’t support 60fps. The main reason I’d prefer an Nvidia card over AMD (if it’s more expensive) was Shadowplay. Now that AMD’s version is nearly as smooth and will get even better soon, it takes some of Nvidia’s standout features away. This could be a positive move for AMD moving forward. What do you think?
It seems the system used to edit your videos has changed recently, likely trimming them into shorter clips. Both shadowplay and GVR combine your microphone with game audio into a single track. Overall, GVR performs well, but the main issue is the gaming app’s overlay. I can’t get it to function properly, making it hard to tell if you’re being recorded.
It no longer functions that way; you can record as long as you want and it stays in one video, thankfully. That’s the main drawback—I’d prefer separate tracks like Dxtory, which would be ideal. That’s strange, but it works for me. Adjusting the settings might fix it; I’ve always found the overlay helpful.
Consider using OBS with VCE that utilizes the H264 encoder on AMD GCN graphics chips. Rapid/GVR updates are too sluggish for my preferences. https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs...ort.13996/
I previously used OBS but faced issues reaching my desired quality. Files didn't integrate smoothly with Sony Vegas, and there was a significant drop in performance. GVR seems to perform better now.
It worked fine a couple of weeks ago, but the overlay stopped functioning a few days later. It seemed to refuse recording at 60 fps even though I set it to that speed and the max rate was 50 MB/s. Instead, the saved file came out at 30 fps at 25 MB/s. It looks like improvements are needed (audio splitting would help). I haven’t played ACII in years, so I tried the tutorial you linked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWK8XRBLSIo
