The latest AMD architecture offers strong options for building a gaming PC. A complete AMD setup can rival Intel or nVidia configurations, while combining AMD graphics with an Intel CPU often provides the best performance balance.

When we truly have trustworthy performance data for Ryzen, please let us know. Otherwise, the information we receive so far is mostly unhelpful due to ongoing rumors and speculation.

Intel CPU paired with AMD GPU works fine. AMD CPU combined with NVIDIA GPU also functions properly.

Because we lack precise power ratings for many Zen AMD models, it's best to postpone planning an AMD versus Intel competition. Wait for the results before comparing and building.

Competing hinges on the context. It’s not as if AMD will claim the premium segment, nor are older designs disappearing overnight. I don’t anticipate the chip being groundbreaking, but it should perform adequately. Being solid doesn’t mean there’s much demand for it. The way this chip enters the market will shape its fate. For gamers, it’ll just be another viable choice. Another processor available that meets your needs will suffice. Whether it makes sense is still uncertain. In short, sticking with Intel seems safer. I’m not trying to favor one side, but when it comes to choosing a proven option versus hype, especially if you can find the reliable one at a lower cost, I’ll go with the established brand.
