Hey everyone. My 4.00ghz processor is actually reaching a maximum of 3.92ghz, which seems a bit lower than expected. Is this typical behavior or is it being slowed down somehow? Also, turning on turbo core doesn’t seem to make a difference.

The board experiences a weak power phase and thermal issues; none of the Micro Atx boards are truly built for 125w CPUs.

I've checked everywhere, but I couldn't find any settings besides overclocking that would make a real difference.

it's a gigabyte ga-78lmt-usb3. i understand it might not be the best, possibly due to voltage issues. just wanted to get the stock clock running, that's all. (i upgraded from a 4300 a quite some time ago)

I've checked everywhere, but I don't see any settings besides overclocking that could really make a difference. That doesn't seem like a good fix.
BIOS version? Your motherboard supports your CPU according to this link: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-download...x?pid=4305.
So you shouldn't have any issues. I'd suggest updating to the latest BIOS and resetting to defaults first, but I'm not sure what you've tried before.
I'd be happy to assist more, though SR-71's are really tough on my eyes 😉

Yeah, it's compatible, and for my particular revision (5.0) there is only one bios available. "FA". I'm not sure if the bios for the other revisions are compatible?

The board doesn't suit a 125w CPU well.

The board doesn't suit a 125w CPU well. I agree, saving up for a better one makes sense. In the meantime, what options exist to reach stock clock without going overclock? (My PC often restarts unexpectedly after I try to overclock.)
