I’d look for a 1090T if it were a premium board. It would offer better IPC over FX and six cores would handle tasks similar to eight cores. However, this platform is quite outdated—it’s tough to suggest anything sensible. My Athlon 220GE would outperform the FX-4300, and it even includes an onboard Vega GPU (three cores). You might get around 150 dollars for a 220GE, a budget build with extra memory, and just focus on improvements like faster USB and SATA ports.

Phenom II doesn't come with the latest instruction sets, which can cause games to fail or refuse to launch.

It was an old, worn-out platform, and you wouldn't expect much from it.

Wouldn't anticipate playing AAA games on an FX4300... Don't go buying. Just keep the basics. Lol, that's right. An Athlon 2200 should be a good choice. Ryzen 1200 or 1400 would work cheaper. Probably a basic Ryzen setup with DDR4 2200G CPU on an A320 board. Around 150 dollars.
