I discuss this on YouTube where I break down the issue. Fullscreen games with Freesync seem to lose brightness when focused, brighten when you step away, and then fade again when you click back in. It only occurs with fullscreen titles and disappears if FreeSync is disabled. The setup includes a 6800XT 4K display at 144Hz with HDR.

Yes, there is a manual setting to tweak brightness and color in 3D applications. You can achieve similar results by adjusting the overall brightness of those apps.

In the AMD control panel, I believe you can change the color and brightness settings for all 3D apps at once. I’m just exploring alternatives since this feature seems to be problematic. What could be causing this issue?

Perhaps I’d have to handle it for each match where this occurs. I might consider keeping that choice in mind if I need free sync for a game, but right now I think disabling free sync seems simpler.
