AMD Expo leads to memory issues in devices
Hello everyone! My PC shuts down when I play some visually demanding games (such as Cyberpunk, Red Dead, etc.). Each time I notice a memory issue, I’ve used the tester from https://hcidesign.com/memtest/manual.html (MemTest 7.0). After running it, I got three memory errors with full coverage. Looking through some guides, I chose to disable AMD Expo. Now, no errors appear after 2000% coverage. My system specs are: CPU – AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz, 8-core; Cooler – Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 Black; Motherboard – MSI MPG B650 I; RAM – G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2x16 GB); Storage – Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280; GPU – ASUS TUF GAMING OC GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB; Case – Cooler Master NR200; Power Supply – Corsair SF600 600W; Monitor – MSI Optix MAG271CQR. My question is: - What performance loss can I expect? - Should I adjust BIOS settings? (Right now everything runs on defaults) - Could it be more than a RAM issue, possibly related to overheating? (Since it’s an ITX case, maybe?) - With Expo off, CPU temps are around 38°C; with Expo on, they reach about 44°C.
Errors in memtest often indicate a faulty RAM module. Since it can't perform at expected speeds and may deteriorate further, consider replacing or refunding the RAM. Without knowing its exact speed, it's impossible to determine the issue. It's unlikely the BIOS settings need adjusting. The temperatures appear normal for RAM.
