No, it's not that bad. GPUs still offer significant advantages in performance for many tasks.

I'm testing against 40 AI NASCAR in BeamNG Drive using this setup, though I'm worried it might not run smoothly at 60FPS.

It's impressive that AMD is finally holding Intel accountable for not pushing harder. However, I switched to a Ryzen 5 after upgrading from an Intel i5 7600 and won't return. I truly hope AMD increases its efforts now so they can develop even better processors.

I’d use it for streaming or recording (to upload later to YouTube) in 4K at 60fps with x264 encoding in real time during events like Games Done Quick. It still outperforms x264 for image quality.
