Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure this out and haven't found a definitive answer online. The main point is whether an AMD CPU motherboard with those PCIe connections can support both B550 and x570 models, especially for AMD CrossFire. I plan to upgrade to a new PC with an RTX 3080, but I also want to keep my current RTX 3060 for gaming. I’m considering using both GPUs when not connected to the new system, and I just want to mine with them. Could anyone give me some guidance on this? Thanks a lot!

Choose a motherboard that enables SLI, or else it won't function. To use SLI, ensure the slots accommodate at least PCIe x8.

OP isn't requesting SLI compatibility. It should function because the GPUs are separate and wouldn't interfere with each other.

Hi there, thanks for your message. I understand you're concerned about running them in SLI. Will the motherboard recognize both GPUs? For instance, using the 3080 for Horizon Zero Dawn and the 3060 for mining. And when you're not using both at once, don't worry about it.

Initially, you won't be able to connect a 3080 with anything—it only works with the 3090. Secondly, mixing different GPUs isn't possible (like 3080 and 3060). Thirdly, SLI isn't necessary for your goal. Having two GPUs on the same system isn't a requirement, particularly if you plan to play with just one. You're all set.

They mentioned it should be okay. I've tried with a 1660 Ti, 1050 Ti, and 1050 all on the same board for Folding@Home. As long as the driver updates don’t cause problems, it should run smoothly. 3080 and 3060 belong to the same series, so you shouldn’t face issues. The Nvidia control panel will automatically set up the display for whatever card you use, so you likely won’t need to adjust anything manually.

Thanks for the confirmation. The main concern is keeping drivers at 470.05 to maximize 3060 performance (really, that Nvidia thing).
