I attempted to boost my HP 15-bg004au (A8-7410) using Overdrive, but it triggered this message:
"AMD overdrive cannot detect amd cpu on this computer or the current processor does not support overdrive."
I'm really upset and need a quick answer. My BIOS shows f.30.

Don't use OD for anything other than monitoring; any changes should be made directly in BIOS only.

When making changes, always use BIOS only. Any original content should remain unaltered.

Overdrive didn’t function properly on K16 Jaguar APUs. However, K15tweaker performs better on K16 APUs and can significantly boost your CPU speed compared to other models like the A8-7410 because of its individual cores. You can set a maximum multiplier so your CPU runs at 4x2.2ghz when using the GPU (note that turbo mode didn’t work with GPU power, and the CPU throttles to 1.4ghz). Achieving a +50% boost is possible, but be aware of your temperatures—this CPU only supports up to 15w. If you turn off Turbo in the options (choose eco mode) and then use K15tweaker to reach the minimum speed of 2.2ghz, it can hit 90°C. Make sure to cool it down before doing so.

Your CPU performance drops to 1.4ghz during gaming. If you disable Turbo (set to power-saving mode) and then manually increase power with K15tweaker, your A8-7410 can reach speeds comparable to an i3. However, power consumption jumps from 15w to 35w—keep an eye on temperatures and be cautious.

Remember, the A8-7410 is the same CPU found in Xbox or PS4 models. You can unlock its full potential with a dedicated GPU like the Radeon R7 M260, which can push it to 2.2ghz (maximum) and deliver much better performance than an i3 or i5.

But proceed with caution—temperatures are a concern, as cooling solutions are designed for 15w, not 35w. Integrated GPUs can’t be overclocked, though you might achieve lower latency memory for faster results. I’ll dedicate a full guide to overclocking your A4/A6/A8-K16 APU this weekend.
