AMD A10-7700K tuning guide Optimize performance by adjusting voltage settings for better efficiency.
It's a new experience with undervolting. The CPU temperature reached 100°C and the system shut down during a game. I adjusted the voltage from v1.350 to v1.237(5), which lowered the max clock speed from 3.6GHz to 3.4GHz (about 3,400MHz). Now it stays around 68°C after an hour of play and drops to 29°C when idle. I'm wondering if this level of undervolting might harm the CPU. Thanks.
The issue arose because the chip had a high TDP of 125 while the cooler was only rated for 95. Thanks to undervolting, the system ran smoothly for two hours without any freezes or crashes—everything is now working well!
Consider using an older Phenom II or Opteron heat sink from stock heat sinks. They’re affordable on Fleabay. These are 140W coolers, similar to the Wraith Prism but without a fan and no RGB lighting. See this link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-CPU-Fan-Sto...on-AM2-AM3
