Amd 2600 chipset memory controller design
An unusual issue, my PC only recognizes 8 gigabytes of RAM (BIOS and Windows) rather than the full 16, even when switching to B1 or B2. When both sticks are connected in A1 and A2, it freezes on the RAM slot (a B450 Tomahawk Max). Could the memory controller be the cause? Also, what impact would it have on performance if you used a single channel instead?
It may stem from controller issues or motherboard problems, such as damaged slots or faulty CPU connections. This is important to address. Check the CPU for any physical damage and reattach it to confirm proper alignment, making sure all pins are securely engaged.
