AM5 support with high bandwidth and four dimming options
AM5 support with high bandwidth and four dimming options
I've seen reports suggesting some users bypass the 3600mhz cap using four dimming settings on an AM5 platform. On my system, I'm running a 7950x with a 6400mhz 32GB G.SKILL kit on an Aorus Master. I've updated the BIOS and chipset drivers. I also have a separate high-capacity kit that I removed some time ago after discovering its limitations with four dimmers. Despite being marketed as overclocking-friendly, it seems unsupported. I'm curious if anyone has experience tweaking RAM settings to push performance beyond 3600. The visual impact matters too—I find two dimmers look less appealing than four, especially when using RGB. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I checked various options and couldn't locate a solution yet. At this stage I'll just pause and consider purchasing two 32GB DIMMS units, ending the project. Motherboard: X670 AORUS ELITE AX (BIOS version F10a, with AGESA 1.0.0.7a). Processor: Ryzen 9 7950X RAM Kits: G. SKILL F5-6000J3636F16G (4x 16GB DIMMS)
Thank you for your message. It appears you're facing the same limitation with exceeding 3600mhz. I haven't encountered detailed guides that cover the entire configuration, but I've noticed some users like Buildzoid successfully achieve this. The challenge arises when they discuss their modifications; it's hard to follow without clear details. I'm suggesting using gigabyte bios with explicit settings rather than abbreviated names. Even with your photo, matching every entry to its label in the bios isn't straightforward. If I could access bios quickly in Windows for comparison, that would help. I realize this topic requires more in-depth study—it's not something you can grasp from a few pages or a video alone. I've asked about this before, but now others have shared similar experiences, especially with the new 24 and 48g dimmer models. It might be worth revisiting now. Someone likely exists who can help. I'm planning to review the links you mentioned and see if I can find a suitable example.

Thanks, I'll look into it as well. It seems like people managed to do this in 2022, even though the content is quite extensive. My mind is starting to get a bit dizzy from all the information. I haven't tried it with a 128GB drive yet, but I'm sure someone has done it before and there should be some settings to find.
It's unclear if copying and pasting works reliably because performance depends on your specific motherboard, CPU IMC, and RAM modules. Keep in mind that variations in the component selection can affect results.
I'm really struggling here. It's why I'm looking for someone who has exactly the same configuration that managed to clear the 3600 mark. It's been a while since I had four in there (late February). What are your thoughts on how likely it is, given all the recent bios updates? Could I disable everything, add the other two, and start fresh with the existing xmp profile? Back then, every change I made to try and fix it would take ages—like 10 minutes just to train without a video signal. I couldn't even reset the CMOS. The only option was to sit and wait until it gave up on its own and rebooted to normal.
