I recently switched to an AM5 motherboard about a week ago. The specs are: Ryzen 5 8400F, ASUS TUF B650M-PLUS, Patriot Viper Venom, 2x16GB RAM at 6000MHz, Corsair TX650M NVMe SSD. I've tested it with three different GPUs—GTX 1660, RTX 4060TI, and RX 5600XT. Symptoms include computer freezing, in-game images stuck on screen sometimes with sound, or apps closing unexpectedly causing the PC to restart. The TUF board came with the latest BIOS, but I couldn't change AMD Expo profiles. My PSU is from an old system and hasn't caused problems before. The only notable issue in the event log is kernel power 41 (63); there was a volmgr incident, but otherwise the kernel behaves normally. Any suggestions on what to try next?

I noticed several compatibility problems between AM5 and RAM. It might help to see if others with similar RAM models are experiencing the same issues on AM5. My friend had trouble with his RAM, and after lowering it to 5200MHz in the BIOS, stability improved. He also faced Kernel 41 problems.

Your system is quite old. The power supplies tend to wear down with age.

this ram isn't listed in the asus board's qvl, but after running a memtest and an occt memory test, everything checked out. i chose it since it was the most affordable cl30 kit, and i noticed others on reddit using the same board and kit.

It's conceivable your SSD contributed to the issue. After switching back to the RTX 4060TI, you observed high CPU utilization and a maximum write speed around 130MB/s, which aligns with what you saw in Task Manager.

The main problem seems to involve kernel 41 error codes, which are unclear about the exact cause. It might relate to a failing hard drive, RAM, or software issues. It’s difficult to pinpoint the problem. I have limited knowledge on whether an SSD could be involved, but high loads could be a factor if nothing else is done. Apologies for not being able to help more. If you discover a solution, please share it so I can better assist in the future!

I swapped out my PSU but the problem persisted. Now I'm using volmgr 161 then 162 and kernel 41 again. I replaced my SSD and the system has been running smoothly for about seven hours without any BSOD or freezing. Could it be that the SSD was defective? The CrystaldiskInfo reported 99% health with no problems. Or might there have been a compatibility issue with my CPU? It was a PCI Gen4 SSD, now I have a different Kingston A2000 NVMe which is Gen3 if I recall correctly.

Let me know if you need anything else. I understand you're frustrated about the situation.

The number shows how much warranty coverage remains, but it doesn't reflect the device's current condition. The manufacturer decides when the status shifts to Warning or Bad, and reliability drops significantly. For NVMe SSDs, SMART functionality has been heavily reduced, making them largely ineffective. Most useful metrics are removed from the lower sections of CDI.
