In real life, as long as your graphics card doesn’t run out of VRAM while playing, Gen 4 and Gen 5 provide identical performance. If the 50€ less B650 board has enough VRMs, it should work fine.

It seems everyone is focused on promoting the B850 right now because they’re trying to boost its sales.

The distinction between PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 for the GPU is almost negligible unless your graphics card runs out of VRAM. With 16 GB of VRAM it’s safe in the near future. Storage matters little for private users, unless you have a particular storage constraint. In such cases you probably aren’t seeking advice. What I mean is consider factors beyond just the GPU slot—how many USB ports do you need? How many NVMe or SATA drives are required? These details should guide your choice. Ultimately, the decision rests with you; I can only share my perspective on what to evaluate. I won’t review numerous motherboard choices for you. What’s the total cost of the system? A 50€ investment is likely less than 10% of the GPU price alone, let alone the entire build. Are those savings justified? As I mentioned, PCIe 5.0 isn’t crucial at the moment. How long do you plan to use this system? Given you’ll probably upgrade to at least Zen 6, will those 50€ be worth it later? Think about the backlash if reviewers suggest a model like B650 and it becomes a bottleneck. People tend to react more strongly than if they paid extra for nothing.

Currently in the US, prices are quite comparable, which means most tech channels focus on the B850. Buying the newer B850 Pro RS for $130 instead of the older B650 Pro RS for $120 makes sense. However, if you're saving a significant amount—say 50 major currency units—it's not necessary to prioritize PCIe Gen 5. The Steves, Jay, and Linus would likely agree on that.

The overall budget for the project varies. We face regular price fluctuations for PC components, so my plan is to secure a top-tier GPU capable of delivering high frame rates in games such as Battlefield 2566 and Arc Raiders at 1080p and potentially 1440p if required. The focus on the GPU is because that’s where performance will be determined. If I opt for an affordable AMD Ryzen 5 7600 and pair it with a good VRM MOTO, the total cost should stay under 130 euros. Adding these together, the estimated expense would fall between 1000 and 1200 euros at most.

This indicates every MOBO is okay.

Pro rs is a solid choice for a mobile in Greece, with the B650 and B850 models offering identical pricing.

No, Asrock motherboards aren't typically associated with causing CPU damage from overvoltage issues.

High frame rates usually depend on solid CPU power too. Look at some benchmarks—BF6 Meaning 50€ might mean about 4-5% less cost. Is that a noticeable saving?
