I'm currently running an R5 3400G on an A320M HDV, but the VRM is terrible—causing significant input lag and stuttering. I'm considering moving to a B450 board for improved VRM performance. I was initially drawn to AsRock Steel Legend, but after reviewing several forums and checking B450 specifications, the Steel Legend VRM is average. I'm looking for a motherboard that supports XMP (3200MHz) and offers stable performance with my stock R5 3400G equipped with PBO and a bit of overclocking potential. I might also think about upgrading to a 3000 or 5000 series later.

It’s the VRM that raises concerns because a failing one can cause the system to stop working due to overheating.

The VRM needs to perform extremely well to handle a 3400G throttle, which suggests the issue might not lie with you. The B450 Tomahawk was indeed a favorite choice, but upgrading to a B550 with PCI-E 4.0 would be a better option for improved performance. Most B550 boards also include two M.2 slots.

The proof against the VRM is that an A320 was designed specifically for a particular CPU, such as the 340G.

Sorry for the delayed response. My CPU temperatures are normal. After trying to repaste the file, the peak temperature during load is 70°C and during idle it's 38-40°C—still within acceptable limits. I'm using an Addgame spider4 with a 3200MHz RX 580, 8GB RAM, and a 580+ PSU. The main issue I encounter is significant input lag. If I leave a game running in idle for a while and then restart it, the game appears smoother but the input delay becomes noticeable after about 10-20 seconds. I've looked into various fixes—swapping RAMs, changing the PSU or GPU—but the problem keeps occurring.

Which game are you playing? Are you using an SSD or HDD? How does the RAM usage appear? The page file and actual RAM numbers don’t match anything typical for ASRock issues. The simplest check would be to temporarily slow your CPU in BIOS, Ryzen Master, or Windows built-in CPU limits. If the performance drops consistently at around 80% speed, it’s unlikely the ASRock is facing overheating VRMs.
