AM4 chipset paired with SLI configuration
My previous setup isn’t performing well these days. The i7 980x at 5ghz (now dropping to 4ghz) from 2010 and the rest from 2008. I’m reaching a point where I need to replace some components now. Since no GPUs are available these days, I want to keep using my 1070s but can’t find an SLI compatible motherboard without spending a lot. Are there any B550 or X570 boards under $300 that support SLI? Thanks for all the advice!
Multi-GPU support is now limited, which explains why help is scarce. Most chipsets from the 500 series don’t have Sli support, so stick to a solid B550 board. Use a single 1070 chip—modern games won’t require it—and resell the other 1070 for a profit.
I understand too, but a single 1070 isn't strong enough for 4K gaming. My goal was to install an HDMI 2.1 GPU such as the 3080 or 6800xt around Christmas 2020. But we all know it didn’t work out. That’s why I went with Tombraider Rise and Shadow, which handled it smoothly. It scales well, giving me nearly 90% performance in SLI and no issues at all.
ye. seems like theres no support for it. selling 1x 1070 and ordering a 3060, and selling 2nd 1070 if im lucky with my 3060. (called in, and they got 40cards comming inn next week and "only" sold 34) so fingers X'd (btw, selling 1070 for 350$ and new 3060 is 700$) kinda "free upgrade" for games not supporting SLI
