Current configuration doesn't meet Windows 11 requirements. The motherboard seems acceptable due to the TPM header, but since it only supports Intel CPUs Gen 6 and 7, I need to upgrade both the motherboard and CPU. Considering AMD options, I'm thinking Ryzen 5 5600 and possibly a RX 6600 graphics card. I'm looking for an AM4 motherboard with two M.2 slots (PCIe) and two PCI slots, as I have two dual digital tuner cards to retain. Available options include two M.2 and one PCI or one M.2 with two PCI, but not both pairs. Frustrated with Microsoft; I was quite satisfied with my existing setup. I've been using Linux to maintain the system, but there are many software limitations.
Set up a headless Plex server on any operating system you prefer. This allows you to reach the tuners and storage from any device on your network or even remotely. It seems most new motherboards won’t include PCI, so you’d need a PCIe adapter. You might consider using an adapter, though I’m skeptical it will work reliably.

As a Windows 10 user, there’s no compelling reason to switch to version 11. Any advice against it seems to be pushing a specific agenda.
Windows 10 may cease receiving software updates around 2028 or later, even without updates, so you won’t need to upgrade to Windows 11 just for support. Security patches aren’t a major issue unless you’re vulnerable (such as government or corporate employees). If not, the main risk is downloading malicious software from untrusted sources. Use antivirus protection like Windows Defender to stay safe. Avoid suspicious downloads, especially cracked or pirated programs.
I play certain games that aren't fully supported on Linux, especially without extra tools. With antivirus, a good firewall, and a solid router, I might still run Windows 10. Support ends in October 2025.
Maybe tuner cards still work, though NVME isn't the only option anymore. (Do tuner cards remain useful today?)
