I understand AM4 is still available, though not officially retired. When would be a suitable moment to consider switching to AM5? Right now I’m planning a daily routine with a B550/5800X running 32GB at 3600MHz and CL16. Using it mostly for streaming, YouTube, and gaming at 1440p or higher with an RX 6800. I usually decide upgrades before they’re finalized—currently evaluating: CPU - 7800X3D, Mainboard - X670, RAM - 32GB at 6000MHz CL32 (possibly more), and maybe adding an RX 7800XT. If things align well, I’d add a gaming graphics card too. **Moderators**, if this shifts to a new build discussion I apologize, but my focus remains on AM4 right now. Thanks for any advice!

Avoid replacing a system solely because it's getting older. Don't assume an upgrade is necessary just because the port no longer supports CPUs—it only becomes relevant if your computer stops meeting your requirements.

Or if you're after something fresh, remember that rushing could mean stepping into the spotlight of the Ryzen 9000 launch.

It's perfectly okay if it functions well—just because it's older doesn't mean it's worth replacing.

Most folks would love a better setup, but it doesn’t make sense to upgrade unless your requirements aren’t being met. Small tweaks help, but a full system overhaul often feels like a waste of funds.

I own this setup mainly because I received the CPU for free. Otherwise, I’d probably still be using an i7-4790K. With such a strong older processor, your PC would be impressive.

It's reasonable to say a 3600 frames per second works well for most gamers right now, likely until the PlayStation 6 arrives. Unless you're aiming for 144fps across everything?

The amount of 3600 varies for each person.

As mentioned, unless you're running at 144FPS or higher, it's acceptable.
