You're looking to upgrade your current AMD Sempron 145 system. The RX 550 4GB edition with an AM3 processor should work well for both streaming and gaming. It's good to know the RX 550 has its own encoding unit for streaming, which shouldn't impact GPU performance. Consider an AM3 processor that supports gaming, such as an AMD Ryzen 5 or Intel Core i3, to ensure smooth performance.

Opt for an AM4 setup instead of AM3. This involves a fresh motherboard, RAM, and processor, offering significant improvements over AM3, particularly for gaming and streaming.

It would be more helpful if you shared your budget details, as an AM3 Processor wouldn't be suitable for 2020.

They can't avoid it—they already possess it. They're seeking the optimal CPU upgrade for their current platform. Honestly, I’m not a fan of AM3 chips; switching everything at once would be wiser. It’s frustrating that this was the era when my love for AMD turned sour due to issues like the Hyper Transport Sync Floor error. Still, if you have just one core CPU, any other AM3 model could count as an upgrade. The choice really depends on your motherboard and whether you need to update your BIOS. I don’t know how well you’d handle streaming and gaming at the same time either.

Understand the motherboard and chipset details. Consider Phenom II X4 options; they might outperform your current setup. Verify compatibility before purchasing.

I really miss this platform. I used several processors before. The X6 1090T/1100T seems to be the top choice from Phenom II, except for the monster X4 980BE. The FX chips with AM3+ support can handle up to eight cores. The most affordable and efficient FX processor would likely be the 8300. For a bit more performance, the 8370E offers solid specs and speeds. But as mentioned earlier, understanding the exact make and model makes a big difference.
