Am I overclocking Incorrectly?
Hello everyone, I'm really new to overclocking. I play games a lot and decided to try overclocking my CPU.
Details:
CPU: Intel I5 4690k
GPU: EVGA GeForce gtx 1050 ti
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97X 3
OS: Windows 10
I've already set my 4690k to 4.1ghz and haven't adjusted the vcore at all. It might be on auto or whatever the default is. Could I be doing something wrong? I ran Prime 95 for about two hours and everything was fine, with temperatures around 70°C during the test. Playing a game from an unknown developer gave better FPS than usual, and everything went smoothly. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
They're decent coolers, but they're definitely not built for maximum output. Still, using them at 3.5 with all four set to 4.3 offers a significant improvement in performance.
I'm not sure about the voltage connection, but does my PSU affect the voltage output? For your cooler, what voltage do you require for 4.2 and 4.3 plus? If you need a replacement, could you suggest a suitable model?
The link is no longer active. Voltages vary slightly between each chip, but that's not a major issue. If it doesn't work, consider increasing the vcore and trying again.
That's good, I'd stop there personally unless you get a new cooler. 78 on prime is fine, I prefer to keep it below 80 for real use and you'd likely land in the 82-83 range on prime with another upgrade.
