I have a Corsair 16GB kit with a 3000Mhz SKU CMW16GX4M2C3000C15. When comparing AsRock B550 boards like Steel Legend and Extreme 4, their Memory QVL appears limited. My memory isn’t listed there. Can I be sure it will work without checking the QVL? I’d prefer not to buy a board only to find out later I need new RAM because the motherboard can’t be returned. Thanks!

QVL lists are quite broad since checking each memory kit on every board isn’t feasible. Generally, it functions correctly out of the box, and minor adjustments usually resolve any issues.

B550 boards are still emerging, so comprehensive QVLs haven't fully developed yet. Still, QVLs are always limited in scope. Most RAM between 2133-3800Mhz should function properly. Problems mainly arise with high-end chips above 4000Mhz, though some older or lower-quality boards might struggle with 3600-3800Mhz. In short, if you have a reasonably good board with a Zen 2 chip included, you should be okay. Avoid exceeding 3800Mhz with a Zen 2 processor.

I don't favor any specific brand; I was just attracted by the Extreme4 board's appearance. Watching Gamer's Nexus' best B550 motherboards video, the Steel Legend stood out as a strong choice, with the two boards being quite similar except for their design.

The standout feature of the Extreme4/SL is its POST code, which contributed to its appearance in that video. While other competitors have stronger overall setups, their boards aren't terrible. The VRM can handle even a 3950X, though running an overvolted version might require extra airflow on the heatsinks.
