Alternative software for Windows backup
Alternative software for Windows backup
Hey, I need a backup solution with these capabilities: network storage support, file history for revisiting past versions, hourly automatic backups, and automatic cleanup of old backups after a certain period. I tried the Windows 10 backup tool but it doesn’t cover the entire C drive. Any recommendations?
I use the complimentary edition of Paragon Backup and Recovery 16, also called Hard Disk Manager 16, to store backups on my connected FreeNAS device. The app includes a built-in file explorer and supports incremental backups. I’m fairly certain it offers automatic deletion based on retention options, though I’m not entirely confident. If you’re open to purchasing the full version ($30 USD), it provides additional features like multiple backup jobs and other functionalities I haven’t found essential.
Windows File History performs precisely as intended. On Windows 10, navigate to Settings, then Update & Security, and select Backup. On Windows 8, choose the start screen option and select File History, which appears correctly.
I also attempted it, it functions well. However, once you try to back up program files or any files requiring admin access, it stops working.
I wanted to ensure important data is protected and accessible, especially files with administrative privileges, so we can prevent loss or unauthorized changes.
Take a closer look at Veeam—it’s primarily designed for enterprise use, though it also provides a free Windows client that works independently and backs up data to a network location or USB drive. You can set it to begin backups automatically when your screen saver becomes active.
My game's save files are stored within the application's data storage.
