Alternative sets of tools for dual channel setup
Hi everyone, I recently put in a 16GB XMP 3200MHz RAM in single channel. I acted quickly and made an error—my order came with a 3000MHz version of the same package, which is fine since they can fix it later. If I switch to dual channel, would that work? Also, would it be simple to modify the second kit to run at 3200MHz? Thanks!
If you can't make changes, your 3200 RAM will operate at 3000 instead.
Because we're in quarantine, I can't visit them, which means the shipping costs are my responsibility.
I examined the stickers and confirmed the RAM has identical timing and voltage specs. My OC suggests I could replace the slower module without altering the VOCtages to 3200MHz and then simply add the remaining 3200 kit, though I’m not entirely sure. Personally, I lean toward getting the RMA. It’s interesting—though they typically sell RAM by sticks rather than individual kits, as long as the timing, voltage, and brand match it should work.
