I recently switched to the 2015 version and had to search online for a method to keep a shaded reference image in a wireframe orthographic view. Some solutions worked for the 2014 version, but adjusting layers in the layer manager to maintain shading didn’t work—settings always reset to the viewport. I tried installing the service pack 1, but it didn’t help. Do you have any recommendations?

I would have to see exactly what you are doing and the settings, can you do a video screen capture? I am still on 2014 so if things have changed A LOT I will probably be useless, but here's a piece of the manual for 2014. http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/16/ENU/3...=d30e15027 I use the active shade renderer to view real time shading (with nvidia iray) but it displays in a separate window, not in the viewport. This is an old video (cowers from stone throws) but I still think it's relevant. *ducks* If you do use active shade or iray, turn off your SLI. edit: checkout the rendering options in preferences... but the easiest way (especially for a new version, I only upgrade every 2-3 years) is to contact autodesk support. That's why we pay them the big bucks! This is another piece from 2014 manual (is 2015s even online? I'd like to read about the new features just for the heck of it)

Hi, I'm facing the same issue too! Have you tried any fixes yet?
