Alternative for Linux RDP/Terminal server setup
A key reason I stayed with Windows on my main PC was the RDP/Terminal server setup. This allowed me to work remotely while my wife could log in and do her tasks simultaneously. So far, I haven’t found a real alternative on Linux that offers the same functionality without issues. But maybe someone knows of a workaround using virtual servers or similar methods—even if it’s not perfect from a local desktop perspective.
Nice suggestion! NX is a good alternative, originally based on X2go.
He’s using it for personal purposes, which is fine. I know it’s closed source, but it runs much faster and doesn’t crash as often compared to x2go. Back when I played LoL, I used it remotely a few times. Once I switched to WG and NX, that was enough.
The free version offers quite restricted capabilities, but it should suffice for many tasks. I was just creating a single demonstration. It wasn’t the only option—X2go has worked well for me, possibly recalling an earlier release. Of course, it doesn’t support Windows hosts, which doesn’t appear to be the intended scenario here.
