Hi everyone! Here’s a clearer version of your situation:

1. I’m using Manjaro (latest version available) on an old ThinkPad T61.
2. I’m connecting an external USB audio device (Tascam US-800).
3. My goal is to record six channels with REAPER.
4. All necessary software has been downloaded and installed.
5. I’ve joined the group @audio and adjusted security limits for real-time performance.
6. I started the jackd server using the command `jackd -R -d alsa`.
7. I switched the default ALSA driver to a dummy one, then back, because it was causing issues.
8. I changed the priority to 85 in the advanced settings of jack.
9. I configured channel input as 8 and output as 2, saved the profile, and closed all settings.
10. I restarted the jackd server.
11. In REAPER, I set jack as the audio system, assigned inputs 8 and outputs 2, enabled auto-connect, auto-suspend PulseAudio, and disabled power management if supported.
12. After finishing, I tried to record a track and noticed feedback from my internal mic.

I’m really struggling and feel pretty frustrated—this is getting quite complicated! If you can’t figure it out, maybe we can brainstorm together. It’s driving me crazy, but I’m here for help! 😅

I'm still trying to understand this. Should the USB audio device appear as an audio device right away? It looks like older technology, which should still work if support remains. I'll note that Jack isn't very reliable and might be hard to help with on the jack side. Also, I'm not familiar with Reaper.

Refers to PulseAudio as well, but I notice it's present in every app I use (PulseAudio, Jack, Alsamixer).
