I've been searching for some time now, and even though my card is considered outdated, it still functions as expected for what I need. While trying to find a waterblock, I came across the Alphacool NexXxoS GPX - ATI R9 270 M06. The main concern is whether it would work with a 2GB version of the card instead of the 4GB. I know it's not the most obvious question, maybe even a bit naive, but I've checked a 4GB model and it looks the same externally. Do you have any idea if there are any differences in the internal setup?

Check it once more, it's actually a better idea to outfit an old graphics card with water cooling. Even if the 270 eventually gets replaced, you'll still benefit from water cooling for other purposes.

I rechecked it again, but it looks better to use an older graphic card with water cooling, even if the 270 eventually stops working—you can still use the water cooling parts for other purposes.
GPU water cooling benefits:
- clearly superior to air cooling when managed well
- scalable in capacity
- looks good, around 2017 would be a year for water cooling and glass panels
That’s a solid reply, though it doesn’t address whether there’s a noticeable physical difference between the 2gb and 4gb models without the coil system. The Alphacool model designed for the Asus 270x is labeled for the 4gb version.

Checked the info again, it’s better to use an old graphic card with water cooling, even if the 270 is replaced, you’ll still need those parts for other purposes.
Advantages of GPU water cooling:
- much superior to air cooling when managed well
- can be expanded
- looks good, especially in 2017 with water cooling and glass panels
That’s a solid reply but it doesn’t clarify if there’s a physical difference between the 2gb and 4gb models without the coil system. The Alphacool model designed for the Asus 270x is labeled for the 4gb version.
If you’re unsure, you might want to search for universal options like EK VGA supremacy and EK Thermosphere—they outperform some Nexxxos with low-flow pumps such as XSPC Ion or Swiftech H220. What water cooling setup do you currently have?

http://www.hwconfig.com/waterblock-finder re check again, No its better to dress old graphic card with water cooling, even if the 270 finally meet his maker, you'll still use the water cooling parts for other needs.
GPU water cooling advantages:
- definitely better than air cooling with proper management
- expandable
- aesthetic, year 2017 would be year of water cooling and tempered glass
That's a nice answer but doesn't answer the question if theres a physical difference in the 2gb model to the 4gb model without the coil system. Yes the alphacool model that is built for the Asus 270x says 4gb model.
if you're hesitate you can look for universal blocks such as EK VGA supremacy and EK Thermosphere, They perform better than Nexxxos on low flow rate pump such as XSPC Ion or Swiftech H220, what water cooling setup you have now?
I have a d5 photon 1200lph doubt I have to worry about the low flow. I've looked at the ek GPU blocks but have always worried about the rest of the card, which is why I'm leaning with a full vga block. Another thing about the ek GPU blocks is just how they would look when you tube it up. I've never really seen any and when they say have thermal pads on other parts that also sways me.
