You're experiencing issues with your Kingston NV2 2TB SSD, where the system shows high free space but no activity, and performance drops intermittently. Crystal Disk and Kingston SSD software indicate everything seems normal. Consider checking for background processes, disk errors, or recent hardware changes that might affect stability. Restarting can help temporarily. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.

Low-cost SSDs often suffer because combining QLC NAND with no DRAM cache and a weak controller leads to issues.

This connection is extremely slow. It seems your SSD might be failing. You should immediately save any crucial information.

It's happening intermittently for over a year, but I think it might be just a gradual failure.

It’s a failing SSD if you’ve ever seen it back up data instantly while it’s still operational. It might fail tomorrow or next year, but you can’t predict it.

I may be a little late to the party, but here's my take on the issue. First, you should backup any important data. That advice is good for any drives anytime because you should always keep a backup. Second, it may be a drive dying but it may also be Windows hallucinating. The indexing service is one thing that may cause this behavior, the Windows Defender anti-virus and anti-malware scan may cause this too. It may also be drivers or major windows files corruption. What to do ? Try using your drive in a usb adapter or another computer to see if it behaves the same way. Another test is to boot from a Linux live USB stick and see if the drive still runs at full utilization. In rare cases, a BIOS upgrade and clearing the CMOS memory may help. But like I said, rarely. Your best bet is probably wiping the drive and installing a fresh Windows on your computer. Hope that helps !
