Hello, I just installed a new system using an i9 9960x and an MSI x299 pro motherboard. The BIOS lists all four RAM sticks, but the DRAM count appears reduced to 24GB instead of the full 32GB. This seems to have led Windows to believe it has less memory than it actually does. Turning on XMP resolved the problem, though the RAM now operates at a higher speed than the CPU supports, making stability uncertain. If anyone has advice on how to run without XMP, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Remove them and reinstall them again? Also, I believe you should place the DIMM_2 in each of the four channels farther from the CPU socket.
If XMP settings function, apply them accordingly. Didn't you purchase higher-speed modules? You might want to perform a stress test on your RAM, but based on my experience, reaching 4000MHz memory is quite achievable on Intel with a single 16GB module per channel.
I'll test it with XMP. Back then, the cheaper RAM was actually faster than the more expensive options available. That’s why I chose it.
