Nintendo has taken down all Nintendo-branded ROMs from Coolrom due to copyright issues. I discovered this recently through the official Nintendo site and Reddit discussions. It seems their recent stance on emulation is being reinforced. While some believe it’s overreacting, others argue that if you own a legitimate copy, it should be fine. On Coolrom’s Facebook page, many users are still confused, and the company hasn’t commented yet. Would you like your thoughts shared below?

Nintendo's shared torrents now have even more participants. Everyone loves it! Did they start this before or after the developer of the year awards?

Obtaining ROMs is against the law. Please understand that. Emulators are completely acceptable. This explains why devices running older consoles sold officially don’t contain the games themselves—they require a physical cartridge with the ROM, which the emulator loads or reads directly from.

They have done it long before. Occasionally Nintendo undertakes a "clean up," a necessary action to safeguard its trademarks and protect its intellectual property from public exposure. This is crucial for a company because if Nintendo appears in court claiming it "encourages" piracy without taking steps, they risk losing the case.

It's disappointing, but the company wasn't suffering financially from someone using an NES or GBA game.

Nintendo is totally missing us, PC gamers. If they had made great PC titles, XBox and PlayStation 4 might have vanished instantly.

It doesn’t really matter. There are plenty of options for obtaining the ROMs.

I discovered a set of around 2000 ROMs. It’s available online, just check it out. But be careful—encouraging piracy isn’t something I support.

Was on Coolrom the day before and noticed there were no Nintendo ROMs available... didn’t even have to check the news to understand what happened. Nintento has been pretty cautious about their copyrights lately.
