You can install an Alienwarex51 R3 motherboard in a R1, but you’ll need to ensure it supports the required RAM configuration. Adding 32GB of RAM is possible if your system meets the specifications for that model.
I’m not very experienced with Alienware items, but as long as there are at least two RAM slots, I don’t think adding two 16GB sticks would be an issue.
