Alienware 17 received eight beeps after being overclocked.
My Alienware 17 received an 8-beep from a bad overclock, using Evga PrecisionX. I've tried several fixes: resetting the CMOS (got 5 beeps then back to 8), removing the battery, unplugging power, draining power, changing the RAM slot, holding "Fn," and even switching the GPU (gtx 860m). Still no improvement. Did I damage my CPU too? Should I replace my motherboard?
Do you hear the beeps during startup?
Yes, I couldn't access post, just a black screen (same with external monitor) and 8 beeps kept ringing.
I don’t really understand what each beep means, probably if you contact alienware they can explain or by searching online. There’s a chance you might have damaged one of your device parts, maybe because you overvolted it. Hopefully it’s not that.

Do you notice the beeps during startup?
Yes, I couldn’t access the post—just a black screen (same with external monitor) and 8 repeated beeps.
I’m not sure what each beep means; maybe contacting alienware would help or checking online could clarify.
It’s possible one of your device parts was damaged, likely due to overvoltage. Hope it isn’t that.
The 8 beep code suggests an LCD issue, but I’ve already replaced the GPU and don’t think the cable is the problem. Thanks for your assistance.
