Many people do this, but truthfully, the X79 isn’t as budget-friendly it was a few years back. A modern low-end build is more affordable. Some X99 offers are decent, but I’m hesitant to start fresh with them. I still favor X58 models, mainly because they’re available or provided by me. Those kits aren’t fake, though—they just don’t match their former quality in price.
There are even newer Ryzen 3 5300 models available. I’d be interested in checking them out.
I frequently buy from AliExpress, it's not a scam. 2.) These boards usually come with PCIe 2.0 slots, which makes it hard for modern graphics cards to perform well (and the CPU lacks an integrated GPU). 3.) I've spent a lot of time chatting with manufacturers about these products, but I haven't made a decision yet. 4.) They're not scams. The main reason I haven't chosen one is that they offer PCIe 2.0 and SATA 2.0, while the rare PCIe 3.0 still uses SATA 2.0. They also don't clarify whether M.2 slots replace SATA ports or something similar.
