Alan Wake has a low frame rate. Not the first one.
Hey everyone. I noticed a lot of excitement around Alan Wake 2 and thought it was a good time to purchase the first version on Steam, since Iv hasn’t played it before. The issue is that my system’s performance is still poor—still drops below 60 on low settings. I’m running a 6700 xt and a 5600x3D, but here’s the thing: I also installed the game on an older laptop with an 1650 processor, which handled it perfectly without any issues. Anyone have any insights on what might be happening? And just to clarify, my drivers are current and don’t interfere with other games either. Control is running smoothly in this case.
Utilize Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free) to monitor system behavior.
Access the respective windows, position them side by side or on a second screen for clear observation.
Begin with smooth gameplay, then proceed to play Alan Wake 2.
Note any performance shifts during the process.
Take your time, work methodically, adjusting one element at a time.
Ensuring drivers are current is usually beneficial, though they can sometimes cause issues. This applies broadly or specifically for certain applications.
If no problems arise, consider reinstalling Alan Wake on a fresh PC, as the original might have been damaged.
Hey everyone. DXVK helped fix my Alan Wake 1 problems if anyone else faces the same. There were some shader compilation issues, but they mostly disappeared after an hour of play.
